Dermal fillers are among the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments available — and for good reason. They can restore lost volume, soften lines and wrinkles, and enhance facial contours with immediate, natural-looking results and minimal downtime.
Common Questions About Dermal Fillers
What are dermal fillers made of? Most modern dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that occurs naturally in the body. HA fillers are temporary and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if required.
How long do fillers last? Depending on the product used and the treatment area, fillers typically last between 6 and 18 months. Areas with more movement (e.g. lips) metabolise filler faster than areas with less movement.
Does it hurt? Most patients find the treatment more comfortable than expected. We use fine needles and/or cannulas, and most products contain a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) to minimise discomfort.
What is the aftercare? Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and extreme temperatures for 24 hours. Some swelling and bruising is normal and typically resolves within a week.
