At Family Dental Clinic, our patients' wellbeing always comes first — including when dental emergencies arise outside of normal working hours.
At Family Dental Clinic, our patients' wellbeing always comes first — including when dental emergencies arise. We understand that toothache and dental trauma do not always happen at convenient times, and we do our best to see emergency cases promptly.
How We Handle Emergencies
For registered patients experiencing a dental emergency during surgery hours, please call us on 01243 771171 as early as possible and we will do our best to fit you in on the same day. Please describe your symptoms so we can triage your needs appropriately.
Outside of surgery hours, our answerphone message provides details of emergency out-of-hours dental cover so you are never left without advice or support.
First Aid Tips for Common Emergencies
- Knocked-out tooth: Handle by the crown (not root), rinse gently, keep in milk or between your cheek and gum, and call us immediately.
- Toothache: Rinse with warm salt water, take pain relief as directed, and call us first thing.
- Lost filling: Cover the cavity with sugar-free gum or dental cement from a pharmacy — call us for an appointment.
- Swelling: Never ignore facial swelling — it can indicate an abscess. Call us or attend A&E if severe.
For all dental emergencies, call Family Dental Clinic as soon as possible: 01243 771171.
