Facial Fillers and Botox: 5 Myths Debunked
Family Dental Clinic
There is a lot of misinformation about Botox and dermal fillers online. Here we separate fact from fiction.
There is a lot of misinformation circulating about Botox and dermal fillers. Here we separate fact from fiction and address the five most common myths our patients ask about.
- Myth: Botox makes your face look frozen and unnatural.
Fact: This is the most common concern, and it is entirely about technique. When administered correctly and conservatively, Botox relaxes expression lines while preserving natural facial movement. The 'frozen' look is the result of over-treatment or incorrect placement — not an inevitable outcome. - Myth: Once you start, you cannot stop.
Fact: You can stop at any time. If you choose not to continue treatment, the effects simply wear off gradually over 3–6 months. Your face returns to its pre-treatment state — it does not age faster because of prior treatment. - Myth: Fillers are permanent.
Fact: The vast majority of modern dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally broken down by the body over 6–18 months. HA fillers can also be dissolved immediately with hyaluronidase if required. - Myth: These treatments are only for women.
Fact: An increasing number of male patients seek aesthetic treatments. We see growing demand from men for Botox, masseter treatment and fillers — all tailored to male anatomy and aesthetics. - Myth: It is not safe.
Fact: When carried out by trained, qualified practitioners using regulated products, Botox and dermal fillers have an excellent safety record. Always ensure your practitioner is medically qualified and registered. At Family Dental Clinic, you are in expert hands.
